OLOMA ’65 Reunion 06/28/2025

This is a compilation of photographs from the June 28, 2025 Reunion in Pittsburgh, PA. Those attending were Mary Ann Kelly Raymer with her husband Bill, Michaileen Morgan Vilsack with husband David, Mary Alice Fitzgerald (now called Molly) Varner with husband Howard, Judy Kindling Karavlan with husband Harry, Barbara Ann Braveman Paster with husband Barrie, Colette Babyak Kacik with husband Lou, Andrea Bircsak Leung with husband Woody, Mary Pat Timony Pittman, Pat Moeller, Joanne Mansmann, Kathy Mansmann (’64), and Kathy’s helper Erin Marsh.

We had a wonderful time reminiscing, but missed seeing so many other classmates. When we realized that there are nine classmates in the Florida area, the idea of a Florida Reunion began to hatch. Thoughts of a bit of sunshine and warmth during one of the colder months seemed most attractive. Current information shows Connie Kovalcik Caruso in Bonita Springs, Donna Marie La Scola Sims in Bradenton, Geri Fontana Stearn in Sarasota, Mary Kay Gillooly Siesky in Palm Harbor, Martina Belotti in Marathon, Christine Danielson Isham in Winter Park, Mary Anne Duffy Hanna in Maples, Marialice Pohl Harwood in Naples, and our intrepid Mary Pat Timony Pittman in Ponte Verde. Mary Pat has been to both the recent reunions. Two classmates live in Texas- Andi Tewell Daum in McKinney and Karen Poach Linn in Richmond- making a trip to Florida a bit easier than Pennsylvania. If any Floridians would like to work on determining a city and an approximate date, just contact me at longviewlady@gmail.com. To all classmates, if you do have a current address for any of our classmates, please forward them and I’ll update our list.

So let’s take a look at our 60th reunion-

First row- Erin Marsh, Mary Alice (now Molly)Fitzgerald, Kathy Mansmann (’64), Judy Kindling, Mary Pat Timony, Colette Babyak. Second row- Joanne Mansmann, Pat Moeller, Barbara Ann Braveman, Mary Ann Kelly, Michaileen Morgan, Andrea Bircsak.

With the husbands-

First Row- far right Lou (Colette)Kacik Second Row- David (Michaileen) Vilsack, Woody (Andrea) Leung, Howard (Molly) Varner, Barrie (Barbara Ann) Paster, Bill (Mary Ann) Raymer, and Harry (Judy) Karavlan.

The following day, Mary Ann, Barbara Ann, Kathy and Erin, visited Sister Pat McCann, our Sister Josepha, at the Mercy Convent on the hilltop. Sister Pat is now 89 years old, and I believe only she and Sister Patricia Mary are the last of our teachers still with us. The photos were taken at the beautiful chapel with its stunning windows.

At the same time, Mary Pat, Colette, Andrea, and Karyn Wentland (she joined us on Sunday) visited the Monroeville School. It has been used by Greater Works, a ministry established in 1981. Through the years they provided grades through high school, but now only go to eighth grade. They have a large congregation from all walks of life and many outreach programs. Do check them out at their website. We were originally scheduled for a thirty minute tour but stayed for ninety minutes. I may not have all the rooms correct, but here goes…

The 52 acre campus-

The entry now has a bookstore/gift shop-

The auditorium seats have been replaced with pews-

Sister Hilda’s Art Studio-

The courtyard, but no peacocks-

The cafeteria is much the same, with some original chairs and tables-

They’ve added a snack bar-

Just as we left it-

Sister Antonio’s Piano Studio-

The chorus room was divided-

The gym has a new floor, but the same side baskets-

How fast could one take a shower?-

The following are from the long hallway that included Sister Julia’s lab, the language lab, and the library. The area includes spaces for little ones up to teens to enjoy.

Sister Amelia’s Book/Supply/Candy Press

How many times did we walk this hallway?

Some of the classrooms are used for offices, counseling, and such.

Others are just as we left them!

Sister Patricia Mary’s Typing classroom-

The “girl’s room near the main auditorium had a major makeover!

The campus is still as beautiful as ever.

We really had a wonderful time.

If you have any photos you would like to add, please send them to me and I will be happy to do so. Thanks to all of you who attended and I hope we will have another reunion, in Florida or Pittsburgh. Love and blessings to you and your families.
